"Poked a Hole"

Years ago I had a part time job driving a fork lift unloading planes at Bradley Airport... Wasn't funny when I inadvertently poked a hole just under the loading door on Slick Airlines Constellation Freighter.. Yes it was a long time ago.. The Co-Pilot taped up the hole with Masking tape and they took off.. Just them taking off with only the Masking covering the hole is worth the story.. I watched them leave saying a little prayer.. The only consequence was a "Be careful next time". Needless to say I was..

My goodness, we were so 'gung-ho' back then! I'm glad they made it. Wouldn't there have been a problem with air pressure?

I don't think so ... Freight low altitude.. That plane was probably a TWA passenger plane before becoming a freighter.. 4 gas engines and I'm sure they went slow and low till they could get it fixed.. I don't remember why I did that but it never happened again.. I was a good lift operator and learned by experience...

Oh, well that's good. I was thinking it was a passenger plane.

*Whew*

How nice of them to be so forgiving.

I'm sure you were a good lift operator.
