"57 More Days"

Last night I watched the movie “The Reader” with Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes. Do not miss this movie! The movie takes place just after the war in Germany and begins with a flash back to a young Michael (Fiennes) when he meets Hanna (Winslet) an older woman who helps him when he is sick. That meeting turns into an affair. His journey from adolescence into puberty is well done and as time moves on the child grows into a young man with a confidence he never knew he had. There are surprises and to me, an emotional ride from anger to compassion and disappointment. Superb acting by all players especially Kate Winslet. I can’t say enough about her. She was brilliant. The movie to me was a lesson in the way it was years ago when children had to forgo an education to go to work. My Mom had to do that. She went to work in a factory to help her mother support her 3 brothers. This has nothing to do with the movie except, I understand the way it was from the stories she tells me about that war and how it was at that time. Speaking of Mom I’ve got to go get her for shopping.
