"It was only a phrase that went from mouth to mouth and was never quite swallowed." - Ismail Kadare

Albanian novelist Ismail Kadare (born January 28, 1936) used poetry and stories to speak out against Communist rule in his country. Some of his work was less subtle than others. In 1975, one of his politically satirical poems displeased authorities, and he was banned from publishing for three years.
