On November 7, 1980, actor On November 7, 1980, actor Steve McQueen dies of cancer at the age of 50. The legendary leading man starred in movies such as Bullitt , The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven, Papillon, The Sand Pebbles and The Towering Inferno . McQueen, whose nickname was “the King of Cool,” died in Mexico where he was undergoing an experimental treatment for mesothelioma, a type of cancer. dies of cancer at the age of 50. Comment .. This guy was my favorite actor of all time.. At the time I even dressed like him.. To this day I drive a Mustang like he did in the movie Bullitt.. I cried when I heard he died..

That seems so unfair that he died so young.

He certainly was in a lot of famous films.
