"Do not trust this book"

Just a little more on the Chris Prentiss book “Cure for “Alcoholism and Drug Addiction”. The title implies that you can drink or use drugs again. My internet sources tell me that he has a very expensive rehab in California some place and this book is the long version of advertising for that place. I have been working with alcoholics for a very long time and I can assure you that there is no cure for the disease of alcoholism. It’s a disease that you can control but can never cure. If you are an alcoholic and you stop drinking I promise you, you can never drink safely again. It’s a disease that one drink is too much and 20 is not enough. It’s a disease that makes you feel and tells you, after a period of time that you can drink without a problem. It tells you to just have one. It’s a disease of progression. That means If you drink after a period of sober time it will be like you never stopped. You will pick up right where you left off. It’s a mental, physical and spiritual disease. Chances are if you are this sick you will reach to point where you want to or will be sent to a rehab where usually the desire to drink or use will be taken away. That incessant craving will disappear and it will be like you are well and you will think that maybe you can drink socially. Warning, if you do drink or use you will end up right back where you started or worse. Usually worse…Its here you must realize that you are not in control and need help from someone or something more powerful than you. This is where you turn your will over to the Higher Power of your choice because you certainty couldn’t do it alone. Its then and only then that you begin to recover and will always be in recovery. Your life will go back to normal and people will start to trust you again. You will do well in your job and you will have relationships and happiness as long as you remember the past and if you drink or use you have to start all over again. If you did start drinking or using again when you try to stop, it will be the hardest thing that you have ever done in your life if you live long enough to do it. I have seen men and woman use and drink after many years of being sober and end their lives by committing suicide because of the embarrassment, humiliation and shame of doing what they did. Millions of words have been written in the past 75 years about Alcoholism and Drug addiction and the word cure is not one of them. Prentiss’s book is a misrepresentation of the facts and is not true. This book is yet another example of a greedy person taking advantage of the desperate, sick and suffering. Drug addiction and alcoholism have been at epidemic levels for a long time and will get worse as this economy falters. Do not fall for it because he advertises on a popular TV channel. Its designed that way to make you feel its ligament. It’s a scam and Prentiss is a fraud...
